This task grid may be helpful. It will be placed on the table in the Gym KITCHEN for you to be able to share the tasks.
Everyone could bring their own aprons and some cutting boards, knife and tongs can be helpful. But, hold onto them yourself. Use the communal ones communally. Label everything you bring along!

Clocks Clocks Clocks!
If anybody has any broken or unwanted clocks both digital and analogue that they could donate to the Neighbourhood we would be greatly appreciative. Please note that these will be dismantled and tinkered with so if you want them back, you may need to bring in a bag for the pieces....
If you have any other broken or unwanted time keeping devices such as metronomes, stop watches and sundials we would love to have them too. Please note that they will be dismantled

Take Home Books
The take home books have been moved from the torus areas as they are under new management.... or just being re-organised. If any children have books from that area, please bring them back to school as soon as possible so that they can also be re-organised. We thank you for your patience while this process takes place. Children are encouraged to borrow take home books from the library, of if there are suitable books at home please continue to read them. Remember to make a brief entry into your Readers and Writers note book to log your reading and thinking.
Thank you for your support,
The Year 2 Neighbourhood Team.

Readers and Writers note book
Readers and Writers note books are expected to travel to and from school each day as there are often reading experiences where the children will be required to use them at school. If it is a longer take home book, they can be read over a number of nights and the chapters or page numbers can be logged into their Readers and Writers note book.
Good readers think and talk about the books they read. Here are some helpful sentence starters to help to get some ideas flowing.
We look forward to seeing your wonderful entries.
Remember, it is very important that you choose the right book for you. :)

- It made me wonder...
- How did it happen?

Thirsty Little Camels
Children are encouraged to bring in a water bottle that can be left on the sink areas in each of the learning spaces. We are aiming to reduce the need for students to leave the rooms during learning times.
Thank you for your cooperation, from the Year 2 Neighbourhood team.

Dear Parents, Children and Friends,
Welcome to the Year 2 Neighbourhood Blog for 2012.
Please follow our blog as new posts are put up regularly especially about the current learning.
Our Neighbourhood is currently creating a learning community. The children have been invited to bring along a collection as a way of getting to know each other, their interests and passions. These collections will be used to stimulate discussions and writing. Images of some of the collections are available under the 'Collections' page on this blog.
We are also focusing on sustainability. We strongly encourage non packaged food for school. Any packaging or uneaten food will be sent home with your child.
We would encourage you to read all of our school policies on the P.H.P.S school website, this includes the school homework policy.
The children are expected to read every night and regularly make brief entries into their Readers and Writers notebook. This includes the title, author and a brief response to the text.
Any parents who would like to act as Neighbourhood 2 reps, please speak to one of the teachers.
We look forward to working in a partnership with you all.
Kind regards,
Kevin, Ethan and Rita
